Frequently Asked Questions

According to the Iowa Motor Vehicle Division, a salvage title:
  1. Has a repair cost exceeding 70% of its fair market value before it became damaged, and
  2. Had a fair market value of $500 or more before it became damaged.

A salvage title indicates that a vehicle has sustained significant damage caused by a serious collision, weather related damage (such as flood), fire, vandalism, or theft and is considered a total loss by an insurance company that paid a settlement to the vehicle owner on a damaged vehicle claim.

You cannot drive a salvage title on the roads and you cannot register it. That’s where we come in!

We, as a licensed dealer, take care of the process of getting the title assigned from “Salvage” to “Rebuilt IA.” This is obtained post repairs by undergoing a physical exam by law enforcement along with re-assigning the title with the Iowa DMV. The “Rebuilt IA” classification allows the vehicle to be registered, insured, and driven by the purchaser.
Absolutely! Since a Rebuilt IA title has passed all inspections and associated paperwork, there should be no issue getting coverage for your vehicle. This is not to be confused with the Salvage title, which cannot be insured.
It depends on your bank. We have many people who purchase our Rebuilt IA vehicles via bank loan.
